Hello, my name is Dr. Anja.
If it is 2018 when you are reading this, it has been almost a full 2 years since I left the California Bay Area for Freiburg, Germany. What began as a year long sabbatical has become a way of life. As a family, we had no idea what to expect when making such a dramatic change, but I am so happy that we did.
I have never lived in a place where I can bike and/or walk to almost anywhere I want to go. My kids are both in schools that are within minutes and while our neighbors have chicken, and sheep and horses, we are only a 15 minute bike ride from downtown Freiburg and a train station that leads pretty much anywhere in Europe! And, there are more dance opportunities in this city than any location I have lived in previously.
While there isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t think about all of the amazing people I was honored to care for in the US, this move has been an absolute gift to our entire family. We have explored new places, met new people, understood what it means to live in a culture where you don’t share the same native language, and my daughter now has a German accent when she speaks English (didn’t see that one coming!)
Being here has also allowed me to spend a bit of time looking forward at how I can take my next professional step. How I can be of service to others while still maintaining this new found lifestyle? The answers are slowly becoming clear. I have experimented with a few ideas and I have had a few realizations along the way:
- Regardless of the struggles that came with it, I was absolutely passionate about my role as one of the primary NDs in the Bay Area and I am thrilled my team was able to create one of the largest and most respected Naturopathic Medical Centers in the Bay Area.
- I cannot stay out of patient care, I care for people too much and too deeply to stay on sabbatical forever.
- There are a few new ways for me to serve…
- A virtual clinic
- Wellness programs
- Business consulting for health related businesses
I am now in the process of finalizing a few details to get the above ideas rolling. Once I have crossed my “t”s and dotted my “i”s, I will share more, but for now, if you are interested in hearing more from me, please add your name to our list and you will be one of the first to know when projects go live.
Thank you for being here.
Sincerely,
Dr. Anja
